Prep: 15 min · Cook: 20 min · Serves 4 · Cuisine: American
Ingredients
- 600 grams potatoes
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 60 grams cornstarch
- 1/2 tablespoon mixed seasonings
- 1 egg
- to taste Cooking oil
Method
- Peel the potatoes and cut them in half.
- Place the potatoes in a pot of hot water with 1 tablespoon of salt. Pre-cook for about 10 minutes, or until they just start to soften but are still firm.
- Drain the potatoes and let them cool until they are warm enough to handle.
- Grate the warm potatoes using the coarse side of a box grater into a large bowl.
- Add the mixed seasonings, egg, and cornstarch to the grated potatoes. Mix well until a cohesive, slightly sticky mixture forms.
- Lightly grease your hands with oil. Take portions of the potato mixture and gently shape them into flat, oval patties.
- Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides, turning carefully. Alternatively, air fry at 180 degrees C (350 degrees F) for 30 to 40 minutes until golden.
- Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
